FlowDers

Kate has brought me a flower or two before with Claire's prompting. But this time was all her own doing. She was outside while I was in the kitchen and she came running in with this handful of wildflowers. It was so sweet, and she had the most angelic look of happiness on her face. She had thought of me all on her own, without anyone's prompting. She said, "FlowDers, Mama!" All her words that end in er also contain a d. ShowDer, FlowDer, ClairDer. Such a sweetie!

Sam's Debut

Sam joined the sign art group at church that Claire has been participating with, and last Sunday was his debut.

Praying before they sign.

I'm happy for Sam to be sharing his love of God in this way. I was really surprised when he wanted to join, but I am thankful that he has a boldness in sharing his faith.

Eggs, Candy, Prizes

Ready for the egg hunt at church!

Lots of candy to get out of these eggs.

Claire found plenty too!

Showing me her blue marshmallow egg

Claire won a prize basket!

Kate did too!....With a monkey in it. How appropriate!

S'mores

It was really hot!

Gettin' his sugar buzz on.
It takes some deep thinking to toast a marshmallow, apparently.

Sam had a friend stay the night last weekend, so we built a fire in the pit and made some s'mores. It was kinda balmy that night for a fire, but the sweat was worth the dessert.

A Happy Place To Go

Any guesses as to what's going on at our house lately? This little potty is so cute that I just had to get it for my non-willing Kate. It has its own flusher! And toilet paper holder! It sings when she "goes." Wouldn't every potty-training young'un just love it? One would think.

I will say she does at least sit on it when I encourage her, whereas the other one (that has no bells and whistles) was treated as if it was going to bite or something. The funny thing is, she was really interested in the boring potty for a while and then started balking at the very mention of it.

She lights up when the song starts playing, and she has even run to it on her own a couple of times when I had her wearing panties. I have the most adorable picture of her on it that she asked me to take the first day. The problem is that she just plain loves her "Biaper." I ask if she wants to wear panties and she says, "NO! Biaper." I'll keep ya posted.

Supermoon

Supermoon over Riverfront in Nashville

Over the capitol

Larry and I went to visit my sister's family last Saturday night in Nashville. I knew the moon was going to be the Supermoon according to all the press, and would appear the largest it will be for the next 18 years. So, with that knowledge I took my camera with me in the hopes of having some time to photograph it in the downtown area. I hadn't brought my tripod (which I regretted) but I was having fun just seeing what I could get. Larry drove me around chasing the moon, and we ended up at Riverfront Park looking over the bridge. As soon as I got out to take some shots, a Channel 4 News truck pulled in also. Two guys got out and took some pictures near me with their phones, then as I was walking back to the van one of them approached me and asked if I would mind doing an interview. Uhhh...I tried to pass them off on Larry but neither of them were having that. I really, really didn't want to, but I was having a good hair day so I went for it! I truly have no idea what I blathered about. We went straight home because if I was going to be the nightly country-bumpkin with the strongest Southern accent, then I wanted to see it! In the end I was spared that agonizing moment, and they just showed about 9 seconds of film of me taking pictures of the moon....mostly from the side which accented my nice hair day instead of my incredibly Southern drawl. Thank You Lord. But it was fun, and Sam was so excited while we waited to see what they would show. He thought I was a celebrity and kept saying, "No one is gonna believe me when I tell them this!" Combine this 9 seconds with the 6 seconds I was on WGN during a Cubs game in the 90's, and I have had my 15 seconds of fame.

The camera guy shot all around me as I was supposed to pretend he wasn't inches from my face. Awkward!

Old Towne

A couple weeks ago Larry and I were able to get away for a little over-night trip to Signal Mountain, TN. We stayed at a wonderful B&B, Old Towne Bed and Breakfast. Isn't this welcome sign the cutest?

If you look closely you'll see Larry toting in all my bags for our one night stay.

This is the room we chose. I loved the "flip a switch" fireplace for when I got chilly.

This was our private dining area for breakfast, which was so delicious...fresh fruit and yogurt with dark chocolate, (okay we could have stopped there and I would have been happy with chocolate for breakfast!) wonderful eggs, homemade bread, blueberry mini-pancakes, bacon, and cheesy spinach grits (amazingly, they were my fav.)

It was great to get away for a little trip. We are very thankful to Larry's parents for keeping our kiddos!
Here's the link to the B&B.
