Supermoon

Supermoon over Riverfront in Nashville

Over the capitol

Larry and I went to visit my sister's family last Saturday night in Nashville. I knew the moon was going to be the Supermoon according to all the press, and would appear the largest it will be for the next 18 years. So, with that knowledge I took my camera with me in the hopes of having some time to photograph it in the downtown area. I hadn't brought my tripod (which I regretted) but I was having fun just seeing what I could get. Larry drove me around chasing the moon, and we ended up at Riverfront Park looking over the bridge. As soon as I got out to take some shots, a Channel 4 News truck pulled in also. Two guys got out and took some pictures near me with their phones, then as I was walking back to the van one of them approached me and asked if I would mind doing an interview. Uhhh...I tried to pass them off on Larry but neither of them were having that. I really, really didn't want to, but I was having a good hair day so I went for it! I truly have no idea what I blathered about. We went straight home because if I was going to be the nightly country-bumpkin with the strongest Southern accent, then I wanted to see it! In the end I was spared that agonizing moment, and they just showed about 9 seconds of film of me taking pictures of the moon....mostly from the side which accented my nice hair day instead of my incredibly Southern drawl. Thank You Lord. But it was fun, and Sam was so excited while we waited to see what they would show. He thought I was a celebrity and kept saying, "No one is gonna believe me when I tell them this!" Combine this 9 seconds with the 6 seconds I was on WGN during a Cubs game in the 90's, and I have had my 15 seconds of fame.

The camera guy shot all around me as I was supposed to pretend he wasn't inches from my face. Awkward!

Awesome! But I do have a slight correction to make to your Cubs game appearance. (This must have really left a lasting impression on me if I still remember it today!) You and your friends were on WGN for way more than 6 seconds. They showed yall before and after commercial break for an extended period of time. Maybe you were having a good hair day then, too! ;)

Too funny that you remember that, Marianna! I guess I will have to get the ol' VHS tape out and look again. Makes me wonder why I haven't been offered a contract by now with all this air time I've had! :-)
